SARKA SVOBODOVA - HEJNOVA
Costume designer

An art school graduate Sarka Svobodova - Hejnova was born in Prague. She completed studies in costume design for theatre and film at the College of Industrial and Fine Arts.

During her studies, she had the opportunity to work as an assistant with leading Czech designers, scenographers, and directors. Among others, they included Prof. J. Svoboda, E. Krumbachova, Z. Seydl, M. Machacek, K. Kachyna, J. Srnec, J. Jakubisko, .

Since graduation she has devoted herself to stage and film costuming, makeup design, and interior design.

Recently she has been working in mosaics: images combined with wood and slate, as well as mosaic walls and table tops.

Behind her is a rich background of creative activity with many theatres in the Czech lands and abroad, such as the National Theatre, the Laterna Magika Theatre, Drama Club, Black Theatre, and the Barrandov Film Studio (all in Prague), the Sydney Opera, and theatres in New York, Geneva, Marseille, Trieste, Bologna, Vienna, Paris, Brussels, Antwerp, and the Arena in Verona.
